Cici Porter

Cici PorterCici Porter is a critically acclaimed musician with over 30 years of professional experience as a performer, singer-songwriter and recording artist. She has received local and national music awards, and her music has been featured in films and television. Cici is also a mother, a wife, a teacher, a painter, a thriving member of her community and an incest survivor.

Shortly after the birth of her second child, Cici was overwhelmed with memories of sexual abuse from her early childhood which she had repressed all those years. With the help of a crisis center, excellent therapists and support groups, she began her long journey of recovery. For the next ten to fifteen years, she participated in many approaches to healing, including talk therapy, art therapy, physical therapy and 12 step programs. Along with the trauma of the child sexual abuse, Cici has successfully dealt Cici Porter Singingwith eating disorders and issues of drug and alcohol abuse.

Along the way, Cici wrote songs about her healing experience, and in 2001 she released the Journey to Wholeness Project , two CD's of these songs and the story of her process and ultimate victory over her childhood victimization. She has been privileged to share this material with thousands of survivors and their support networks all across the US, including an appearance at the Surgeon General's Workshop on Child Maltreatment, at the National Institute of Health, in 2005.

Cici is still dedicated to her own recovery on a daily basis, and globally to the eradication of child sexual abuse through open communication and adult responsibility. These days she is most interested in primary prevention, as practiced by the organization Stop It Now!

Cici dreams of a world where children are cherished and protected by the healthy, loving grown-ups in their homes and communities.
